Eddie Bravo carved out a unique legacy in grappling by building the 10th Planet empire, a no-gi jiu-jitsu system that challenged traditional Brazilian jiu-jitsu norms with unorthodox techniques and a rebellious philosophy. His rise to prominence was cemented in 2003 when, as a relatively unknown competitor, he submitted Royler Gracie—one of the sport’s most respected figures—at ADCC, shocking the grappling world. That victory wasn’t just an upset; it became the foundation of Bravo’s movement, proving that innovation could rival tradition. Their later rematch years afterward symbolized more than just competition—it was a clash between evolution and legacy, with Bravo’s journey reflecting persistence, creativity, and a refusal to conform.
